Dark Chocolate Sea-Salted Brownies (Dairy Free)

January 12, 2021 by MGal

Here’s an easy Brownies recipe that hits the spot when those chocolate cravings set in. This one is dairy-free and customizable to what you have in your pantry. For the oil, I used avocado oil but canola or vegetable oil works fine for this recipe. For the flour, I used white whole wheat but regular all-purpose flour works or you can sub for 1:1 gluten-free flour. Lastly, to make these a little healthier, I used coconut sugar, but traditionally brownies call for granulated white sugar. Either is fine here.

What sets these apart from traditional brownies is adding in some sea salt to balance the sweetness. Totally optional, but it’s so good in this recipe. I also added in some dairy-free dark chocolate baking chips. Again, this is optional but makes them so decadent.

DARK CHOCOLATE SEA-SALTED BROWNIES RECIPE:

3/4 cup granulated sugar (I used coconut sugar)
1/2 cup cocoa or raw cacao
1/4 cup all-purpose flour or 1:1 GF flour (I used white whole wheat)
1/4 teaspoon of sea salt
2 eggs
1/4 cup vegetable oil (I used avocado)
2 tablespoons water
1/2 tablespoon vanilla
1/4 cup dairy-free dark chocolate chips (optional)
Coarse sea salt for sprinkling (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 325°F
Whisk together sugar, cocoa, flour, and salt in a mixing bowl.
Add eggs, oil, water, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
Mix in chocolate chips, if using
Pour batter into an 8×8 baking pan lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out almost clean
Remove from oven, sprinkle with corse sea salt and let cool before cutting.

Enjoy!
