Recipe
Filling:
- 6 tart apples, peeled and chopped
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Topping:
- 3/4 cup old fashioned oats
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup of coconut sugar (brown sugar is fine)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes (vegan is fine)
- pinch of sea salt
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 F degrees. Butter or spray an 8 inch baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, add apples, granulated sugar, 1/2 tsp of the cinnamon and lemon juice. Stir to combine, then transfer to baking dish.
- In a separate mixing bowl, add brown sugar, oats, flour, 1 tsp cinnamon, salt, and butter. Using your hands, pastry cutter, or a folk, cut in cold butter until crumbly. Do not overmix
- Spread over apples in baking dish and bake 40-50 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.
- Serve warm with Vanilla ice cream!
