Chocolate and hazelnut is my all-time favorite dessert combination. Nutella anyone?!!
Being Italian, Nutella used to be a staple in my household. Ever since I made homemade hazelnut butter, I have been craving Nutella and wanted to create my own version of the original, but in bite-sized form instead, and with only 4 ingredients:
- Hazulnut Butter
- Coconut Oil
- Maple Syrup or Honey
- Cacao (or Cocoa) Powder
If you want the spreadable version, you can still make this recipe and just leave the coconut oil out. Strawberries and Nutella on toast is also a great combo!
But I like how with the fudge bites, you can have them as dessert or satisfy those sweet tooth cravings in one bite without the bread. I also love adding seat salt to practically every chocolate dessert, but this is optional if you want to omit it.
- 2 cups homemade or store bought hazelnut butter
- ½ cup coconut oil
- ¼ cup maple syrup or honey
- 3 tablespoons of raw cacao (or cocoa) powder
- Sea salt, to top (optional)
- Melt hazelnut butter and coconut oil together in the microwave or stovetop.
- Stir in maple syrup (or honey) until melted through, being careful not to burn.
- Remove from microwave or stovetop and stir in Cacao powder and mix well until evenly incorporated.
- Add flake sea salt if desired.
- Pour into mini muffin liners or molds and store in the fridge for an hour or until ready to serve.
I used raw cacao powder for this recipe, but you can use cocoa powder if you prefer. I like raw cacao as it is loaded with anti-oxidants and iron, more so than regular cocoa powder which is heated at high temperatures.
