I can’t believe tomorrow is September 1st…the summer flew by way to fast! With August officially ending today, I decided it would be fun to post a round-up of my favorite things from the past month and mark the official start of my monthly favorites going forward.
Each month you can expect to see me post about my favorite workouts, fitness classes, food, recipes, and even beauty products, starting with my new favorite deodorant (yes…this is important when you live a sweaty life)! So here it is…I’m excited to share with you guys 4 of my favorite things from August!
1. Favorite Deodorant
This is probably the thing that I am most excited to share with you. It’s been a real struggle to find an aluminum-free, natural deodorant that actually works and smells good. I tend to get really sweaty from workouts and even this deodorant stood the test of one of my sweatiest runs. You have to try it if you are looking for one that works but doesn’t have any harsh chemicals (It does have baking soda for those of you who are allergic…sorry).
I find the best stuff at Marshalls. I got this for only $3.99. DOUBLE BONUS: It’s cruelty free and vegan.
2. HIIT Barre Class
I was never much of a fan of Barre until just recently when I realized I needed to start incorporating more joint friendly workouts into my workout routine (enter my 30’s). This coming from the girl who loves running and HIIT workouts. So naturally, after seeing South Boston’s Simply Barre – High Intensity Barre class on ClassPass, I had to give it a try!
At first I thought, this can’t be that challenging. I’ve done a lot of HIIT and Barre classes before but never mixed the two together, so I had no clue what to expect. Let me just tell you, I’ve never held a plank variation for as long as I did in this class, and oh boy did it burn (but in a good way). I also loved Frances’s energy, who teaches the class. She makes you feel better about how challenging some of the moves are by letting you know that it’s “supposed to be hard.”
For those of you in the Boston area that love cardio but hate Barre, this could be a good way of getting into Barre. (That being said, Simply Barre does recommend you take 5 of their regular classes before signing up). And for those not in Boston, here is a great Barre Legs + Cardio Tabata Workout by NourishMoveLove to try.
3. Altar Ego Leggings
I am always skeptical of brands reaching out to me on Instagram. When Altar Ego reached out to me this month to become a Brand Ambassador, I didn’t hesitate to get on board and help promote their brand once I saw that the company was native to my very own city. Not to mention, their leggings are super comfortable and so stinkin’ cute!
Here is my favorite pair that I am wearing: Black-Marble-Legging
They stood the test of hiking and have a great stretch to them, making them feel like second skin. I also love that they are pretty light, making it easy to wear them on hot summer days. Use code FITGREENGAL to get 15% your purchase at: Altar Ego Apparel
4. Quinn’s Farm-to-Bag Popcorn
If you follow me on Instagram, you probably have seen my stories about buying organic snacks at Marshalls. I find some of the best deals there, like this organic popcorn that is my new current snack obsession. It’s made with just 3 ingredients: Popcorn, Organic Coconut Oil, and Sea Salt. And the best part, its only $2.79 at Marshalls! I can literally eat the entire bag in one sitting!
